Like the clothes we wear and the way we talk and walk, it is part of ourselves and part of life.It created more awareness in me about the impact a typeface has on people, and I grow evermore conscious about typefaces, with a deeper knowledge and understanding about its underlying workings.P.S. Buying products, reading posters and flyers (and presentations). Everyday we are making conscious decision on using typeface in our daily lives i.e. Also one thing I noticed, in any project or assignment, it is also a platform for us to practise other skills we have acquired over the years, be it video, acting, research and of course typo (which everyone is still trying to get to terms with).I value presentations, as it is a chance to not only showcase what you can do as an individual but as a group, in terms of teamwork and leadership as well. And all in all, our group did great, despite personal commitments and schedules, we got it right and well.About the typeface Baskerville, one would realise its importance not only in its history, but also generally typefaces’ importance in our world at projecting ideas and translating messages. It was efficient to that extent, and I think when you got the ideas running, it was a straight forward case of executing it. I felt that to some extent, we were kind of directionless, or rather, because we thought it was going to be a simple case of show-and-tell.But, I guess people work best under pressure?Almost instantaneously, we got the ideas going on the same day, and everything was formulated at the same time. This makes me question our own standard of art. Thus, although sometimes works may be excellent and ahead of their time , graphic design is intricately linked to society and their visual aesthetics may be undervalued if unappreciated in that time. This was interesting to me as it meant that a shift in society, culture, and the way we view visual aesthetics could have triggered the revival. L’instant Décisif.I would say that through this group project, I understand the typeface Baskerville better now in terms of historical origins and anatomy. Two things I learn form the project was firstly, that some typefaces like the Baskerville were not appreciated in their time and only became popular much later.
![]() Most of all, I would like to thank the class as well for their active support and participation to make the presentation a fun and meaningful experience.I remember our first idea was just to do a measly powerpoint… and when Angeline told us we needed to do better than that, we ended up doing a skit/film instead. I would especially like to thank each and every group member for utilizing expertise to help in the group. It was thanks to everyone’s consistent effort and patience that made the project possible give the limited time frame to work on it. This made me realized that a lot of consideration and trail and error must have been made for any typeface and I truly appreciate type designers a lot more.I would say that our group dynamics are generally good and everyone did their part of the work efficiently. For Baskerville, there were so many subtle characteristics that I would not notice if I had not studied the anatomy, like how the ‘w’ does not have a serif in the middel, and the significance of the ‘Q’ swashed tail that shows Baskerville’s calligraphic skill and influence. The Hound Of Baskerville Story In Telugu Mac All TheIt is a good learning point because it just reminds us that we do not need to conform and be rigid to be moulded and stagnate as the corporate world would make us. When the opportunity comes, we should grab it and make the best of the versatility that has been granted to us. We don’t have to stick ourselves to the front of the mac all the day. Even though it really required more effort and thinking… it expanded us to be more than just graphic design students. One thing I’ve learnt, for sure, is that pushing the box, in the end, will always be worth the effort. Android emulator ringan untuk macEveryone was equally motivated so it’s quite exciting to work with such a group of people as well.Of course, I definitely appreciate Baskerville more now that I have studied in it depth. But we planned well as a team. So it was quite hard to organize meeting etc. We do have other modules in school to cover so we cannot sacrifice every moment to this project. We learned to be organized, try and accommodate to each others needs and other commitments. ![]() Therefore, I was pretty amazed by the research study, knowing that most of us won’t be expecting that a typeface can actually affect our perception of truth in a subtle way.One characteristic of this typeface that i find most interesting is the the special Swash tail at Q letter, inspired from calligraphic style and its W letter with no middle serif. In addition, its legibility, elegance and refinement makes it an excellent typeface that conveys dignity and tradition. What most inspired me is that Baskerville has the ability to convince people into believing that the statement is true. I believed that the harmony and beauty of Baskerville typeface are the reasons why it is frequently used in many books, magazines and newspapers. Draw software for macWe started cracking our brains for ideas and methods to make the entire presentation interesting rather then using a mere powerpoint presentation. However, thanks to everyone’s commitment and effort at the later stage, we managed to push ourselves to do even better. Lastly not to forget, it became an inspiration for Fournier Giambattista, Bodoni and Didot! At the beginning, i find that our group was lagging behind as compared to other teams during the Conceptualization and Pre-Production phase. And other companies as logo type such as Kate Spade. Even till today, Baskerville is still widely used as display and body texts, found in documents of University of Birmingham etc. ![]() Without this project, we wouldn’t have known each other so much better and definitely acquired a lot more knowledge and understanding about John Baskerville and his typeface.Special thanks to Zachary and Kai Hua for the great help for collaborating with us during the skit. This was a memorable experience for me and hopefully for everyone in the class as well.
